My name is Deborah Sadler. I am an experienced and qualified therapist with an M.A. in relationship counselling and psychotherapy. I work in private practice. In the past I have worked as a therapist for two national charities, but now work exclusively in private practice, seeing clients with a range of issues. Private practice affords me the opportunity of offering a fully confidential and professional service where the client is valued as an intelligent, competent and unique individual. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and within that organisation I belong also to the Counselling Young People Division (CYPD).
Although having both trained in and worked with systemic and psychodynamic approaches, I am primarily a practitioner of Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), which is the approach my clients find most useful and effective. This approach encourages an exploration of choices when working logically through their particular issues. Empowerment and self-affirmation are gained from searching for workable solutions that suit individual needs, and in taking responsibility for choices and decisions. Problematic issues from the past which are raised by clients are viewed through the lens of what can be done to lessen any grip they may have on the future. Quality of life invariably improves in response to the changes clients make. I thoroughly enjoy working with people and place great importance on establishing a good therapeutic relationship which is confidential, non-judgmental and empathic and where you can feel comfortable discussing difficult issues.
People often feel overwhelmed by their problems. By working collaboratively with them and by focusing on finding solutions, I help clients make the changes they wish to achieve, using the strengths and competencies they may be unaware they already possess. Equally important is that clients find they are able to maintain those changes in the future and that they are able to use the way we work to address other difficulties which may arise in their lives. Covering a range of problems, this approach works well with families, young people, couples and individuals.
It is difficult trying to source the best professional in any field, not least a therapist, and this is further complicated by there being so many therapies out there! So if you have any queries feel free to call, text or email me without obligation. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have towards finding what is right for you.
